Position Summary: The Real Estate Loan Processing Team Lead is responsible for initial and on-going training, reviewing of loan documentation, and closing documents and writing and updating procedures for Real Estate loans. This professional will lead the Processing team from loan origination through closing and the generation of initial and closing documents of real estate secured loans. This position is responsible for managing a pipeline that includes a variety of real estate secured loan types (Construction, First Lien Mortgage, Subordinate Financing, Home Equity etc.).
Essential Functions:
- Lead, coordinate, and manage the daily activities of the Retail Loan Operations real estate processing team.
- Manage and prioritize daily workflow using independent judgement of real estate processors, including monitoring of pipeline and meeting deadlines.
- Conduct reviews and communicate results of initial and pre-closing documents to ensure real estate loans meet all bank policy requirements, complex regulatory compliance guidelines, and customer service standards.
- Lead and facilitate initial and ongoing training and coaching for real estate processing team to include Encompass loan system, Blend, Loan regulations and UBT loan policy.
- Responsible for monitoring of loan pipeline to ensure accuracy for the purpose of identifying and communicating compliance risks or potential departmental efficiencies through communication in meetings, emails, and Loan Reviews.
- Initiate system updates and improvements to optimize the Encompass Loan System while also coordinating testing of new products and software updates.
- Work with Kenzie Mae, Escrow Tab, Blend, and other vendors on troubleshooting, testing and implementation of new processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with other Loan Operation team members to implement E-sign including IPEN and RON closings.
- Responsible for final approval of system changes, enhancements, updates, and corrections that impact the Real Estate processing team.
- Understand and anticipate all facets of the real estate loan cycle from beginning to end to ensure all loans meet complex regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership to team members, while demonstrating a thorough understanding and ability to apply in-depth knowledge of all federal regulations and bank policies/procedures related to real estate lending.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Department and use independent judgment to understand complex regulatory interpretations and provide ongoing training and development with the Processing team on compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Responsible for the completion and on-going updates of specialized guides and procedures for the In-House Real Estate team and the completion of the Business Recovery Plan for the processing team.
- Lead by example in creating ways to challenge team while providing ongoing motivations and positive reinforcement to meet departmental and organizational goals. Communication may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matter of significance.
- Provide thorough and timely operational and regulatory guidance and support to Private Banking, Residential Real Estate and Construction Officers and Personal Bankers.
- Provide a high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers in person and by telephone.
- Participate in the activities to develop a succession plan and prepare staff via training and mentoring to maintain consistent, long-term results.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications:- Minimum of 15 years real estate loan processing required.
- Experience with HELOCs, bridge and construction loans required.
- Knowledge of all federal regulations and policies/procedures involving real estate lending.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software.
- Experience with Encompass and Fiserv software, including Navigator and Director preferred.
