Tumor Registrar identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients using tumor registry systems and software. Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Description
The Registrar provides leadership, vision, and hands-on management of services provided while being accountable for stewardship and best practices for maintenance of academic records and student data at the College. The Registrar helps to craft and implement strategic initiatives including technology, compliance, process improvement, and metric development relevant to the records and registration area. The Registrar collaborates with administration, student service offices, faculty, and academic divisions across the College to provide high quality, student-centered services, partner on student success initiatives, and is a key resource regarding academic policies and best practices.
Essential Responsibilities:
Requirements
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a senior registrar role, within a business analyst position, or an information technology-related profession is preferred.
3. Proven supervisory and leadership experience with excellent management and communication skills and a record of increasing responsibility within their field.
4. Evidence of team building experience, the highest ethical standards, and knowledge of best practices regarding record management are required.
5. Knowledge of, and direct experience with information systems is required.
6. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and dynamic environment is required.
7. Direct experience working in a registration and records office managing both administrative and operational functions are preferred.
8. Ellucian Colleague and Slate experience is preferred.
9. Demonstrated ability to create and lead implementation and ongoing enhancement of strategic new initiatives and processes is preferred.
10. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
11. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
12. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
13. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
