Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Radiology, the Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing all radiologic procedures as directed by the physician(s); and assist with duties that ensure the department is functioning efficiently such as nursing, lab, reception and medical records. In addition, the Ultrasound Technologist must be able to provide efficient and proficient services to our physicians as well as provide quality, courteous and compassionate services to our patients in adherence to the guidelines, policies and procedures set forth by The Conrad Pearson Clinic.
