Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Position Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist successfully meets the needs of patients and families by delivering excellent patient care, performing a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a compassionate and safe manner. Utilizes ultrasound equipment and manipulates technical controls to attain quality diagnostic images and performs procedures in accordance with established practices. Contributes to a positive and collaborative work environment and maintains adequate records by reviewing physician orders for accuracy and completing all post exam activities associated with patient's exam.
