Ultrasound Technologist jobs in Monroe, LA

Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     • Demonstrates proficiency in the operation and proper handling of all diagnostic equipment.
    • Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and utilization of proper positioning, protocol, and techniques to obtain a quality diagnostic image. Identifies normal anatomy and/or unusual findings.
    • Ensures that the equipment rooms are kept clean and properly always stocked.
    • Maintains adequate knowledge of all computer systems utilized within their work environment such as RIS, PACS, etc.
    • Reviews prior studies and reports that correlate with the current examination to ensure that special attention is paid to the area of interest in question.
    • Consults with a radiologist regarding suspicious findings prior to releasing the patient so that a determination can be made as to whether or not additional testing is needed.
    • Maintains communication and collaboration with radiologists and other ancillary departments regarding changes in protocol, scheduling of procedures, exams performed and patient flow.
    • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by manager.

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma/GED required.
    • Licensed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
    • RDMS RVT preferred.
    • Knowledge of safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
    • Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience required in ultrasound and related testing and Quality Control in ultrasound.
    • Multi-modality is a plus.
    • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
    • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Flexibility in scheduling
