Ultrasound Technologist jobs in South Dakota
Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be an Ultrasound Technologist typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota.Job SummaryThis full-time position will perform diagnostic ultrasound exams under the direction of the Director of Radiology and the technical direction of the radiologist.PRN or relief positions also available.Other responsibilities include:
- Produce two or three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physicians in the diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs
- Key test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain a record of test results
- Operate the department computer system for scheduling and billing procedures
- Operate PACS system to ensure all images are verified and sent
- Share call responsibilities in Ultrasound
- Maintain supply inventory
- Report equipment malfunction to the Radiology Director, and reports safety concerns to appropriate personnel

QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent from AMA-approved ultrasound technology school.
Holds or is eligible for certification by the ARDMS or RDCS.Prairie Lakes Healthcare System has a Drug Free Workplace Policy. An accepted offer will require a drug screen and pre-employment background screening as a condition of employment.
