The Underwriting Assistant is vital in the organization, supporting workers’ compensation insurance underwriting efforts by providing clerical and research assistance, collecting and evaluating information, performing data entry, attending to time-sensitive matters, and establishing and keeping accurate records. This Underwriting Assistant job is full-time based in Montgomery, Alabama and geared to candidates looking for a long-term, career-development position within the insurance industry. Duties involve collaborating with in-house senior underwriters, partner brokers/insurance agencies, insurance company representatives, and others to facilitate short and long-term goals of the company while maintaining in a positive, professional manner.

Essential Duties:

• Receive new business submissions/applications
• Assist in analyzing information, quoting, binding, and issuing coverage documents
• Service existing accounts including coverage endorsements and renewals
• Maintain accurate records of prospects and customers
• Communicate with in-house and outside business partners to support the company’s underwriting efforts
• Meet internal and external objectives and deadlines

Qualifications:

Education

• High school diploma/GED required
• Post-secondary vocational, trade, college, or university education a plus

Skills

• Strong computer/management systems and data entry including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Competent insurance, business administration, finance, statistics, mathematics, or related disciplines
• Prior insurance administrative/underwriting assistance work desirable
• Workers’ compensation insurance experience a plus

Pay: From $47,000.00 per year
