OverviewWe're seeking an AIX/Unix Administrator to join our team! In this role, you'll provide enterprise-wide AIX and Unix system infrastructure support for complex system and interconnected technologies that require day-to-day support and administration to maintain optimum performance and utilization. This role also serves as the Epic Operational Database Administrator and is responsible for all aspects of our Epic ODB environments.

This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

ResponsibilitiesEpic Operation Database Management
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of Epic ODB environments that serve production, reporting, DR, training, and non-production.
- Installs and maintains the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of Epic system.
- Applies Cache/IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
- Configures and maintains environment copies according to the environment strategy.
- Oversees and is responsible for infrastructure and upgrade projects on Epic Cache\Iris platform and assists non-infrastructure teams with technical considerations in their projects.
- Plans and coordinates the management of system software, related hardware and configurations while continuously developing procedures, tools and scripts for security and management.
- Develops and implements disaster recovery and business continuity procedures to ensure business continuity including developing data backups and retrieval techniques in case of failure, redundancy, etc.
- Develops performance improvement initiatives for system environment to provide the best user experience possible.
- Plans and executes projects within approved timelines.
- Updates standard policies according to environment changes and audit results and maintain documentation of hardware and software components and user and operator procedures.
AIX/Unix Server Administration
- Plans and coordinates the installation and testing of system software and related hardware.
- Installs, configures, maintains, and supports Unix based operating systems (OS) to run various enterprise applications. This includes AIX, I Series and Linux based systems.
- Detects and troubleshoots system operational and functional issues and performs maintenance routines to ensure continuous system availability.
- Analyzes software and hardware environments to determine any system defects, identifies and resolves system issues in a timely manner.
- Participates in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
- Suggests and/or implements solutions to resolve problems and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor’s degree in related filed or direct and applicable work experience
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
Experience:
- Three years AIX and/or Unix/Linux technical experience
- Five years AIX and/or Unix/Linux technical experience preferred
- Previous Healthcare IT background preferred
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Epic ODBA Certification within 12 months
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certification within 12 months
- Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
- Current Epic ODBA Certification preferredCurrent Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certification preferred
