    Alternative Information Systems is seeking a Microsoft Security and Endpoint Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our Microsoft security infrastructure. This role is crucial in safeguarding the organization’s endpoints, identity management, and security compliance for staff, students, and vendors. The ideal candidate will proactively monitor security alerts, implement automated measures, and collaborate with IT teams to ensure the integrity and security of our IT environment.

    Duties
    Microsoft Defender Security Portal Administration:

    • Serve as the primary systems administrator for the Microsoft Defender Security Portal, managing endpoints and user accounts for staff, students, and vendors.
    • Implement and manage automated security measures to enhance protection across all endpoints and identities.
    • Remediate compromised assets promptly to maintain security compliance and minimize potential risks.
    • Set up alerts and automated remediations for proactive event resolution.

    Identity and Access Management (IAM):

    • Oversee identity and access management through Microsoft Azure Entra ID and Microsoft Defender Security Portal.
    • Maintain and update user accounts, groups, and access policies, including conditional access, self-service password reset, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
    • Implement Access Packages and manage account lifecycle workflows to streamline group assignments and secure resource access.
    • Perform cleanup and optimization of teams, groups, and licenses to ensure resource efficiency and prevent directory sprawl.
    • Manage workflows for account creation and deactivation to ensure secure user lifecycle management.

    Device Management via Microsoft Intune:

    • Utilize Microsoft Intune for comprehensive device management, enforcing configuration policies to ensure security compliance.
    • Act as an escalation point for advanced issues raised by the desktop distribution and support teams.

    Security Incident Response:

    • Monitor security alerts and respond swiftly to security incidents.
    • Proactively identify and mitigate potential security risks to protect the organization.

    Global Administration and IT Operations:

    • Perform Global Administrator duties within Entra ID, managing directory services.
    • Ensure secure and efficient IT infrastructure operations.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to implement industry best practices and drive continuous improvements in IT operations.

    Proactive Security and Tenant Management:

    • Take initiative to identify and implement improvements to the Microsoft Tenant environment.
    • Stay informed of the latest security threats and industry trends to safeguard the organization’s IT assets.

    Qualifications

    • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Azure Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), and Microsoft Intune.
    • Strong knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) best practices.
    • Proficiency in device management, security compliance, and account lifecycle management.
    • Proven experience responding to security incidents and mitigating risks.
    • Familiarity with Global Administration tasks within a Microsoft environment.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within an IT team to drive improvements and ensure best practices.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
