Upholsterer builds or rebuilds furniture by covering with materials such as leather, cotton or suede. Repairs wooden furniture pieces and refinishes surfaces. Being an Upholsterer may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Upholsterer works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities:
- Perform upholstery work on various furniture pieces, vehicles, or other items
- Measure, cut, and sew fabric to create or repair upholstery
- Use power tools and hand tools to remove old upholstery and install new materials
- Fabricate and assemble cushions, padding, and other components
- Ensure that the finished product meets quality standards and customer specifications
-Occasional pickup & delivery of furniture (must have valid driver's license)
Experience:
- Proven experience as an Upholsterer or similar role
- Proficiency in sewing and working with fabrics
- Familiarity with power tools and hand tools used in upholstery work
- Ability to read and interpret design specifications
Skills:
- Strong sewing skills, including the ability to operate a sewing machine
- Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools for upholstery work
- Ability to fabricate and assemble cushions, padding, and other components
- Attention to detail to ensure high-quality craftsmanship
- Good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues during the upholstery process
