About the role
Design sits at the center of the Two Chairs experience. As a Staff Product Designer on our Clinician Experience squad, you'll help redefine how clinicians deliver exceptional mental healthcare, infusing every moment of their Two Chairs journey with care and joy. This is an opportunity to use your product design chops to build a product that enables all people to access the effective, modern mental healthcare they deserve.
You'll be joining a team of design craftspeople who are passionate about making a difference in mental healthcare — we're all about building authentic empathy for our users, boldly reimagining their tools, and paving the way towards a better mental healthcare system. All while caring for every single pixel. Surrounded by smart, ambitious and caring cross-functional teammates, you'll have the opportunity to partner across all disciplines, developing deep clinical partnerships and amplifying the clinical perspective through the research, design, and development of beautifully elegant UI.
You'll be responsible for building tools that enable clinicians at Two Chairs to operate at the top of their license by removing burden and offering them joy. You'll use design to help make mental healthcare accessible to all.
Core Areas of Responsibility
- Shape our vision of the Two Chairs Clinician Experience. You'll partner with product, engineering, and clinical counterparts to imagine and evoke a world where clinicians easily and joyfully deliver life-changing care, your vision will drive our roadmap and build momentum across the organization.
- Build your way towards this vision. You'll design end-to-end journeys that help clinicians deliver effective mental healthcare, serving as an expert of product design craft and evangelist of design excellence. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional counterparts to design user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity product features that support our business goals and serve our clinicians (while delighting them along the way).
- Thoughtfully consider your users (Clinicians) in each design decision you make. You'll be devoted to building empathy for their individual needs, consistently weaving their perspectives into your solutions, and always prioritizing diversity, inclusion, and representation in your work. You'll bring empathy and intention to each design choice you make.
- Play a foundational role in designing and implementing the Two Chairs Design System. You'll introduce new ways to leverage a modular design system while continuously evolving how our design language embraces our cross-platform experience. You'll uplevel the product design toolkit to ensure every touchpoint feels cohesive, successful, and pixel-perfect. The Two Chairs digital products will grow to embody both your strategic points of view and aesthetic stamp.
- Mentor, motivate, and empower your teammates, removing barriers for others. You'll build a track record of amplifying the execution of your peers, creating a flywheel of impact, and scaling your point-of-view throughout the organization.

Where you'll make an impact in the first 90 days:
- Develop deep, collaborative partnerships with your design peers.
- Build strong relationships with your core counterparts in our product, engineering, and clinical functions.
- Meet and start to understand your users, their needs, and their hopes.
- Collaborate closely with executives within and outside of your function.
- Ship your first features, across multiple (complex) product surfaces.
- Lead the evolution and maintenance of our clinical design systems and UI.
Where you'll make an impact in the first year:
- Design the product vision for our Two Chairs clinician experience.
- Ship elegant solutions to complex, multifaceted workflows that improve the day-to-day activities of clinicians at Two Chairs and push our business forward.
- Enable an environment of continuous improvement. Iterate and improve upon the process, protocols, and rituals that enable design at Two Chairs.
- Raise the volume on the voice of your user: The Clinician.
- Instill the team with your point-of-view on how technology and design can impact the way clinicians provide care.
- Champion design across the company. Bring great design, research, and design-thinking to your squad (and beyond).
You'll be successful if you have:
- A demonstrated history of launching thoughtful, research-driven digital products. From initial needs-finding, ideation, early-stage prototyping, testing, iteration, and delivery of high-fidelity designs, you're able to demonstrate the impact of your design work. The products you've launched are beautiful, functional, and solve real problems.
- Mastery of UI best practices and the knowledge of when to leverage them. You know when to push a design for the benefit of creating an ownable and delightful experience, without compromising usability or accessibility.
- A deeply user-centered process, with experience processing quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights and an iterative, metrics-driven approach to design. You know when to learn by shipping.
- Exceptional visual design craft, with stylistic breadth, attention to detail, and a knack for bringing delight into everyday interactions. Your portfolio showcases mastery of type, space, form, color, and visual hierarchy. You appreciate when product and brand are closely linked, and are excited to create experiences that are not only functional but also uniquely Two Chairs.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills. You have strong interpersonal instincts and the poise to navigate the fast-paced ambiguity of a startup. You provide thorough, strategic rationale to align stakeholders towards your vision, and you feel energized when collaborating closely with a team.
- A high tolerance for ambiguity. You naturally find energy and excitement in amorphous problems, persevering til complex problems transform into clear, elegant solutions.
- A superhuman low-ego. Even as you've progressed in your career, you've continued to roll up your sleeves to do whatever needs to be done.
- Passion for the clinician's experience in the mental healthcare ecosystem. You want to improve their day-to-day, and you're ready to pave the way.
- Mastery of modern responsive web conventions and the ability to execute against them within Figma workflows. You have working knowledge of the capabilities and constraints of front-end web technologies.
- Relevant but not required: Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine platforms, healthcare compliance and regulatory standards (HIPAA or GDPR), and protected health information (PHI).
