Utilization Management Director leads and directs the utilization review staff and function for a healthcare facility. Determines policies and procedures that incorporate best practices and ensure effective utilization reviews. Being a Utilization Management Director manages and monitors both concurrent reviews to ensure that the patient is getting the right care in a timely and cost-effective way and retrospective reviews after treatment has been completed. Provides analysis and reports of significant utilization trends, patterns, and impacts to resources. The Maintenance Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the maintenance department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and established company policies and procedures. Ensure the facility is well-maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
A. Role Responsibilities – Job Knowledge/Duties - Maintenance Director:
1. Manages the operations of the Maintenance Department by adhering to proper staffing and scheduling of personnel
2. Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc for upkeep and supply control
3. Participates in facility surveys made by authorized governmental agencies
4. Ensures that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders
5. Assists in establishing a preventative maintenance program
6. Meets with maintenance personnel on a regular basis and solicit advice from inter-department supervisors concerning the operation of the maintenance department, assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and /or improvement of services
7. Assists in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job related maintenance functions to ensure that tasks involving the potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded
8. Makes daily rounds to assure that maintenance personnel are performing required duties and assure that appropriate maintenance procedures are being rendered to meet the needs of the facility
9. Maintains fire alarm and other fire protection and preventive systems
10. Completes carpentry and other building repairs within the scope of expertise
11. Maintains heating and cooling systems
12. Makes some electrical and plumbing repair within scope of expertise
13. Monitors, maintains, and records inventory and orders supplies as needed, ensures supplies are available
14. Heads snow and ice removal for the sidewalks
15. When required, is on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day for emergencies
16. Other duties as required by the Administrator
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent
2. Must have, as a minimum, one year experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance related position
3. Must have a valid driver’s license
4. Must be able to withstand inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat, freezing conditions, and a noisy, dirty, dusty, or greasy work environment at times
5. Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
6. Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations
7. Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
8. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
9. Must be knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in the facility
10. Must possess leadership ability and ability to work in teams
11. Must possess the ability to plan and carry out programs in repair, new construction, and equipment installation
