Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. JOB SUMMARY: E&E Foods in search for a Rolling Stock Mechanic for our Coffee Point salmon processing plant in Egegik, AK. This role requires patience, flexibility, and a desire to work as hard as the situation demands. Must have the ability to understand and follow all instructions and safety rules. Self-directed, well organized and comfortable in a diverse living and working environment. Willing to work in a remote location under, at times, challenging conditions.
JOB DESCRIPTION: In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and service of all facility rolling stock including but not limited to forklifts, ATVs, pickup trucks, 2.5- & 5-ton military trucks, heavy equipment, and all other company vehicles. The rolling stock mechanic will work under leadership of the plant rolling stock manager in our maintenance department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Minimum 3 years professional experience. Experience with gas, propane and diesel engines. Military multifuel and Cummins engine experience preferred. Experience with hydraulic systems.
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT is weather dependent: ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy and wet. Working outdoors in a remote environment is not an experience for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations. People who struggle with mobility should consider employment in another department or a different industry.
NATURE & HOURS OF WORK: The season runs from early May to early-mid August. You will be required to be available to work 12-hour days, 7 days a week.
LIVING CONDITIONS: Our seafood processing facilities are a very remote part in Alaska. Housing is dormitory-style, and you may share a room with other people. There are no health care options readily accessible. There is no cellphone signal and limited internet available. Communication is very limited.
