Vehicle Maintenance Manager assists with the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Assigns vehicles and drivers, prepares schedules, and oversees dispatch operations. Being a Vehicle Maintenance Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Vehicle Maintenance Manager develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. May administer insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participate in claim resolution. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Vehicle Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Vehicle Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient processes
- Manage a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed
- Perform manual labor as required for aviation maintenance and repair
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to diagnose and troubleshoot aviation issues
- Coordinate and schedule repairs, maintenance, and service appointments
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets industry standards
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and equipment necessary for avionics repair
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide exceptional service
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in avionics technology
Requirements:
- Must have/had a FAA avionics Repairman certificate at a Part 145 Repair Station in the past 3 years
- Experience at a Garmin dealer preferred
- IFR certification and RVSM experience preferred.
- Proven experience as an aviation mechanic or in a similar role within the aviation industry
- Strong mechanical knowledge and proficiency in avionics repair
- Ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex avionics issues
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members
