Minn-Kota PAAWS is looking for an energetic, compassionate individual to fill the position of Veterinary Assistant working in our spay/neuter clinic.

Minn-Kota PAAWS is a high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic serving pet owners in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Our mission is to ensure spay/neuter is accessible to all pet owners. Since 2009, PAAWS has provided spay/neuter services to over 55,000 pets. We offer a pet food pantry, serving 200-250 community members monthly.

Position Hours and Wages:

• (4) 9.75 hour days (Monday - Thursday)
• Wage is $16/hr DOE
• No nights, weekends, or on-call.

What you’ll be doing as part of our team:

• Assisting with examination of surgical patients
• Assisting with monitoring anesthesia, surgery, dentistry. Helping with wellness services for pets
• Preparing dogs and cats for spay/neuter surgery Work with the team to unload donations and restock the pet food pantry
• Promoting a positive image of the organization by providing A customer service
• Working with the best spay/neuter DVMs/LVTs/and Assistants in the area

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Ability to positively interact with pets and their people.
• Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions both written and verbal.
• Empathy, courtesy, tact, and compassion. Ability to learn about systemic issues that affect underserved populations.
• The ability to stand, and walk for extended periods of time; sufficient hearing; the ability to reach, bend, or stoop. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• This position works daily in a spay/neuter clinic. You will come into direct contact with animals and animal related sounds, smells, and dander.
• Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant is a plus!
