Veterinary Assistant prepares treatment room for examination of animals; restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. Lewiston Veterinary Clinic is seeking an energetic and personable individual that loves animals to join our Large Animal Veterinary Technician/Assistant Team.
The successful applicant must be a team player, be able to lift up to 100 pounds, willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time and have a valid driver's license.
Prior experience in veterinary field or large animal knowledge preferred, may increase wage offered. Certified LVT status will be given priority. This full time position is Mon-Fri, 8-12 hour days with rotating weekends offering an hourly wage (depending on experience), medical/dental benefits, paid vacation, sick leave and 401k plan.
