Veterinary Assistant prepares treatment room for examination of animals; restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. Highgrove Veterinary Hospital is a single Dr. practice located in Nottingham Pennsylvania that was established in 2003. Dr Foster started off as a large animal veterinarian but has since dedicated his time to small animal medicine. As a smaller veterinary clinic we take pride in our ability to provide excellent customer service and compassionate care. We are looking to add a motivated, conscientious, and caring veterinary professional to our team.
Duties include:
-Assisting Veterinarian with office visits and exams
-Dispensing medications, assisting with diagnostic procedures, medical treatments and surgery preparations
-Assisting Receptionist with scheduling appointments, telephone communications and customer service

-A love for animals and the ability to warmly welcome and compassionately care for a wide variety of pets and their owners
-Excellent client communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service
-Positive energetic attitude with the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
-Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover the hospital's open hours, including Saturdays
Required Experience:
-Experience of working in a veterinary hospital and/or completion of a Veterinary Science or Veterinary Assistant program is essential

Wednesday and Saturday 8:00-12:00
