Veterinary Assistant prepares treatment room for examination of animals; restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. The hospital is seeking to add to our team as we are expanding our facilities and services. The ideal applicant will have experience in the veterinary field, providing patient care to large and small animals, assisting with surgeries, communicate with clients, supporting team members, performing diagnostics, and maintaining exam and treatment areas. The hospital is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. to Noon. Must be able to work beyond close of business as needed. The ability to stand for long periods and lift within reason required. Salary is based upon experience. Benefits include scrub allowance, personal/sick time pay, vacation pay, discounted products and services all after probation period and evaluation.
