Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing medical care for animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Assist with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Provide post-operative care for surgical patients
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration - Assist team with hospital cleanliness and general housekeeping
Skills:
- Strong animal handling skills, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals and staff
- Minimum of one year experience in the veterinary field as a Veterinary Assistant required
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with veterinary assistant duties and responsibilities
- Ability to assist with animal catheterization and other veterinary urgent care procedures
- Proficient in dog and cat handling techniques
Requirements:
- Must be willing and available to work weekends/ weekend day/s (shifts may rotate) - Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the veterinary field as a Veterinary Assistant or similar title. - Reliable transportation - Willingness to learn and be flexible
