Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Frequently clean and sanitize animal holding areas, such as pens, kennels and feed containers, Report any abnormalities in the animal's behavior or sick/injured animals to the veterinarian or the veterinarian technician. Assist in preparing animals for laboratory examination/ vaccines/surgeries. Perform other related duties as requested.
