Veterinary Assistant prepares treatment room for examination of animals; restrains animals during examination, treatment, or inoculation. Administers injections, performs venipunctures, applies wound dressings, cleans teeth, and takes vital signs of animal. Being a Veterinary Assistant requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to be certified/licensed. Additionally, Veterinary Assistant is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision of a veterinarian. We are a single veterinarian small animal practice seeking a veterinary assistant. Our hospital is patient focused and client responsive. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with clients as well as patients. Experience is required. You must be able to work mornings/afternoons/early evenings and two Saturdays a month. Responsibilities include telephone skills, computer skills (Avimark familiarity a plus), client education, creating estimates and reviewing them with clients, patient care, patient restraint, assist in euthanasia and keeping the hospital clean. You must be able to lift 50 pounds.
