Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. With the support of their technicians, assistants, and liaisons the hospital teams work closely together to deliver the highest quality of care.
About You :
We are seeking a technician who is already comfortable with restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and anesthesia.
Experience with CPR, EzyVet, and Smartflow are an additional plus, but not required. We highly value collaboration from all staff members, so please speak up as your input is not only valued but can make a difference.
This role in particular spends a lot of time with our phenomenal neurology team, so this is a great opportunity to get more experience with specialty medicine as well!
Anticipated Schedule :
This is a full-time overnight position with shift flexibility. 4 10-hour shifts per week. Some weekends and holidays are required.
Compensation :
Starting at $26 $35* / hour dependent upon experience. *This range includes shift differential for the overnight shift.
