Position Summary:
The Director is responsible for creating and sustaining an operating environment that achieves Affinity Group Retail and Client partner’s store level merchandising objectives with reliability and confidence. This is accomplished by managing a team of motivated, competent, and well-informed Merchandisers, utilizing systems and resources to their full potential. The Director also implements and guides the Department’s long-term strategic plans while effectively communicating with Sales and Management Teams
This position covers the Northeast territory. The ideal candidate will be located in Buffalo, Boston, Pittsburgh, Albany, or Baltimore.
Essential Functions:- Represent Affinity Group in a professional and ethical manner.
- Communicate effectively with Affinity Sales and Client teams groups to plan and strategize retail objectives.
- Develop, support, train, and execute merchandising directives and processes.
- Ensure reliable execution of client’s in-store merchandising objectives.
- Report on merchandising activities and achievements in a timely and clear manner
- Visit Affinity Group Retail markets and customer store locations to understand and identify opportunities.
- Manage the effective integration and utilization of Affinity technology systems and platforms.
- Inform and train the Retail Merchandising team on Best Practices to accomplish the Department goals.
- Utilize retail reporting system intel to provide thoughtful insight on performance and to identifying opportunities.
- Participate in new client interviews to provide a strong sense of retail involvement, commitment, and enthusiasm.
- Direct, manage, and review individual performance of direct reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- BA/BS degree preferred or minimum 5 years of experience in Retail Merchandising management.
- Experience in the Grocery channel is advantageous.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable and effective in presentation environments
- Problem solving skills.
- Effective personnel evaluator, mentor, coach, and manager
- Basic competency with MS Windows software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Understanding of syndicated sales data (such as Circana or Nielsen) and category distribution metrics is helpful.
- Effective collaborator and contributor functioning in a team environment.
- Results oriented with keen ability to understand what is needed to accomplish desired company initiatives.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timelines.
- Professional appearance, winning attitude, and comfortable operating in a dynamic client service – customer activation environment

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions- Ability to lift 30lbs to shoulder height unassisted.
- Floor stock rotations of refrigerated and frozen food items in cooler and freezer cases.
- Inspection and moving of product in cooler and freezer and storage areas.
- A flexible work schedule is required (some evening and weekend work)
- Reliable transportation for visits to Affinity offices/markets and customer store locations
- 10% overnight travel, 80% travel within territory.
