Position: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)
Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer
Location: Onsite, Boise, ID
The Corporate Communications Associate is responsible for providing professional communications support, including the execution and evaluation of communication initiatives, programs and projects as assigned. This role serves as a trusted partner and strategic advisor for company communications. All our positions uphold our principles of value, quality and design. This role is at our Boise, ID headquarters and this a non-remote position.
What You Will Do
- Develop from the ground up and implement internal communications strategies for retail stores, warehouses, distribution and corporate office.
- Create and edit internal communications to ensure effective communication, clarity of the message and professional messaging/formatting as appropriate for each target audience.
- Identify new channels for innovative dissemination of information and promotion of events including townhalls.
- Develop and publish regular newsletters including creating story ideas, researching information for the articles, interviewing employees, and writing and coordinating articles.
- Ensure Scandinavian Designs/Dania Furniture branding standards are consistent in all communications including oversight of LinkedIn and other employer focused communications.
- Support communication strategy, planning and execution for large-scale organizational initiatives and operational teams and projects.
- Assist other departments with effective internal communications, ongoing messaging and updates.
- Serve as the liaison and point of contact with Marketing staff on internal communications aspects of the company intranet.
- Create and distribute surveys to different levels of the organization, analyzing data and presenting it in an easily understood way.
- Produce reports and monitoring and analyzing trends.
- Build strong relationships with a variety of subject matter experts across the company to inform writing projects.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends.
- Facilitate focus or discussion groups as needed.
- Seek out news coverage in local, national, and trade publications, preparing and pitching press releases and serving as a point of contact for the press. (Do we want to keep this in? I feel like it’s more of a marketing responsibility. However, it will attract a more media savvy candidate – Morgan)
- Support administrative staff in event planning and promotion.
- Oversee community involvement efforts.
- Meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects.
- Perform other duties or special projects when assigned.
Who You Are
- 2 years experience working in journalism, internal communications, public relations or closely related field required.
- Experience in a retail organization preferred.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated experience developing and implementing communications plans and strategies for diverse internal audiences across multiple communications channels.
- Solid knowledge of multiple communications disciplines, media channels and internal/external audiences.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively in oral and written communications.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Can work successfully as a member of a team and independently working under minimal supervision.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.
- Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field with 2 years of professional experience.
