  • Overview:

    The Director of Volunteer Services is responsible for the overall management of the Volunteer Services Department. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the activities of the Department. Additional duties include recruiting, placing, training and supervising volunteers. Assists in the development and design of volunteer programs and activities. Attends and participates in lectures and business meetings addressing volunteer programs. Responsible for interacting with the public and hospital personnel regarding Volunteer Services Department opportunities, policies and expectations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, and direction of all volunteer activities.
    • Recruitment of volunteers by researching community resources. Disseminating volunteer information utilizing a variety of recruitment methods including internet, in person, letter, or pamphlet form.
    • Recruitment, interview, orientation, placement, training of volunteers and staff.
    • Develops and maintains job assignments and descriptions for volunteers. Updates programs and assignments regularly based on assessment and needs of the Institution.
    • Create a training protocol for volunteers.
    • Establish and communicate departmental policies and expectations. Establish and maintain positive hospital staff/volunteer relationships.
    • Develop programs to recognize and honor volunteer workers.
    • Maintain and update departmental policy and procedure manual.
    • Prepare and maintain the departmental annual budget.
    • Maintain organized and systematized methods of record keeping in the filing of applications, medical clearances, references, evaluations of volunteers and departmental staff.
    • Oversee the onboarding of allied-health clinical internship placements including coordination of medical clearance, background checks, orientation, ID, EPIC training. Coordination with schools, students and hospital departments.
    • Attend lectures and business meetings addressing volunteer programs.
    • Develop and maintain appropriate correspondence, reports and statistical data.
    • Supervise the daily activities of the department.
    • Represent hospital at various internal and external events.
    • Participate in various hospital committees.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required.

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in relevant HR or volunteer management, in a supervisory capacity, with a minimum of five (5) years hospital experience.
