Manufacturing Process Engineer – PIC wafer process Location: Sunnyvale, CA Develop, qualify, release and optimize wafer fabrication processes, including plasma etch, plasma deposition, physical vapor deposition, and photolithography on existing and new technology generations. Improve and sustain existing processes of record in the Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) wafer fab. Execute projects to improve yield, PIC performance, and process control. Support the PIC equipment strategy across the different wafer process modules as Infinera scales its production toolset toward higher capability and capacity. Participate on various cross functional teams as a technical content expert. Execute projects related to capacity expansion, process simplification, and mistake-proofing in the wafer fab modules. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: Own and optimize the performance of plasma etch and deposition processes used for PIC wafer fabrication. Develop and deploy control plans to keep etch, deposition, and photolithography processes operating within required performance parameters. Troubleshoot wafer fabrication process problems and drive details of improvement project execution to enable a smooth flow of production and development wafers in the fab. Participate on various cross functional teams to improve yields, solve process problems, simplify procedures and processes, and release new tools and processes with improved capacity and capability. Work in partnership with the PIC operations team in keeping high volume wafer fabrication processes available in support of 24x7 wafer manufacturing. Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: JMP, DOE, SPC and their application to semiconductor manufacturing Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, and expertise in etch, deposition, photolithography and related processes. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with semiconductor process development and new process introduction. Experience consistent with supporting an operations team, writing and training of fab procedures, root cause analysis and problem resolution. Education/Experience Required: BS with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or an Associates’ degree with 5 years’ experience in one of these Engineering disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Technical depth in aspects of etch, deposition, photolithography or similar tools and processes used for semiconductor manufacturing. 5 years’ experience in broad aspects of semiconductor wafer fabrication. Clear communication of problems, challenges, and leadership in deploying solutions. A working knowledge and experience from path-finding through release to production. Ability to partner with integration engineering and development teams on the wafer fab engineering roadmap for PIC technology Compound semiconductor background a plus #LI-SR2 Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
