Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Being a Waste Water Treatment Technician collects water samples for chemical analysis. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Additionally, Waste Water Treatment Technician typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Waste Water Treatment Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all
environmental regulations
Planning, directing, scheduling,
and supervising the operations of the wastewater treatment plant and
laboratory; overseeing and participating in the preparation and maintenance of
appropriate records, and DMR reports
Schedules, assigns and supervises
all personnel engaged in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater
treatment plant, pump stations, sludge operation and laboratory operations
Plans and oversees the plant
maintenance program; deals with vendors to obtain parts and supplies
Conducts routine sampling and
field testing of water and/or wastewater
Compiles data for chemical use
and keeps records on equipment and plant operations
Prepares reports on plant and
pump station operations for submission to superiors and regulatory agencies
Oversees training activities and maintains employee training records to comply with company safety programs
Develops and enforces plant safety and other procedures and regulations
Physical Requirements:
Extensive mobility and excellent
physical condition; ability to lift 75 lbs.; ability to operate all necessary
hand tools; ability to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. to reach items in need
of repair; tolerance to all extreme weather conditions, such as very hot or
very cold temperatures

Comprehensive knowledge of the chemical and physical processes involved in sludge treatment, mechanical and hydraulic engineering principles involved in plant operation
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, County and regulatory agency officials and the general public.
