Join our team at Chatham Emergency Management Agency as we seek an Emergency Management Specialist to play a pivotal role in coordinating and enhancing the efficiency of our emergency response efforts. If you possess a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management or related field along with experience in the field, we encourage you to apply and contribute to the planning, development, and coordination of our county's emergency management program.

Examples of Duties

In this position you

• Assist in the planning, development, coordination and operation of the Chatham County Emergency Management Program.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of emergency plans, research risks and make recommendations.
• Coordinate logistics with a variety of entities regarding plans, including transportation, public works, municipal partners, etc.
• Assist with maintaining operational readiness of assets and equipment through the regular inspection, operational testing, preventative maintenance, and repair of fixed and mobile equipment.
• Assist in ensuring the EOC facilities, equipment, and resources are in a constant state of readiness and are fully functional.
• Support the activation of response equipment and assets.
• Serve as part of a Duty Officer Program who is responsible for obtaining and maintaining situational awareness during potential or real world events as well as initial activation of the County’s Emergency Operations Center.
• Utilize effective communication skills, attention to detail, and calm demeanor in stressful situations.
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a closely related field, and
• One (1) year of experience in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or Information Technology; or
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience with project management is preferred.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia Class F driver's license within six (6) months of employment.

During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.

In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.

Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
