Generally, HFOT’s hybrid approach is that after 90 days, employees spend about 50% of their time working in the HFOT office in Taunton, MA and about 50% of their time working from home, if the employee’s role and job responsibilities are suited to such an arrangement.

Note: Although HFOT offers a flexible work schedule, this position requires work in the Taunton, MA office location two or more days per week.
Position Summary
The Web Developer will manage Homes For Our Troops’ web presence and email marketing communications. Responsible for ensuring websites are functional, user-friendly, visually pleasing, intuitive, and current. Manage and maintain website content and serve as in-house expert for all web related issues, updates, and maintenance. Work closely with subject matter experts from Marketing, Development, IT, and other departments to build, revise and refine webpages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage and maintain website structure and design, and optimize display for all files and content.
- Assist with growth of Homes For Our Troops' online visibility and awareness with effective web site assets.
- Collaborate with marketing and development staff on website ad campaigns.
- Create and maintain a website style guide for cohesive design elements across all pages.
- Collaborate with third party hosting provider to perform updates to WordPress and/or compatible program websites. Perform ongoing maintenance to achieve performance optimization.
- Create new forms, landing pages and other tools to engage site visitors.
- Update graphics, design and text as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams on website design and the HFOT digital user experience, ensuring the website reflects our organization's voice, style, and brand.
- Respond to user comments and questions in a prompt manner.
- Research best practices and continually review competitive websites to improve the usability, performance, and audience value of the HFOT website. Update site content with appropriate current trends.
- Coordinate and deliver email marketing campaigns focused on key dates in collaboration with other departments.
- Work closely with IT to mitigate any DNS change that may be required.
- Assist IT in evaluating the website’s security by working with a 3rd party vendor when performing a penetration test and mitigating any vulnerabilities found.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications- Compatibility with the HFOT culture: HFOT is a dedicated, loyal, and cohesive team, led by skilled and versatile leaders, focused on excellence, ethical conduct and the quality of the services we provide.
- Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a relevant field or a minimum of 7-9 years of hands-on experience in website development.
- 7 years of experience with website platforms including but not limited to WordPress, WordPress Plug-Ins, website production, testing, design, optimization, and maintenance. Portfolio available for review required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with the latest web design trends in digital media and current web standards is preferred.
- 7 years of experience with digital web strategy, content, SEO and user experience and interface.
- 7 years of experience in hand-coding (e.g. PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript), Advanced Custom Fields and Bootstrap required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Professional and well-developed interpersonal skills, and strong customer service orientation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of content marketing strategies and execution.
- Copywriting and editing skills required.
- Excellent attention to detail is required.
- Possess good teamwork and collaborative skills, and understanding of creative online marketing.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift objects weighing at least 25 lbs., will sit for long periods of time, and may use repetitive wrist and hand motions involved in sorting and handling documents. Employee will have close visual contact with a computer monitor constantly.
