JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Wire EDM Lead Person

Position: Non-Exempt

Location: Westfall UP

Manager: No

Reports to: Operations Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The focus of this department will be to handle all activities in the WIRE EDM department, Including programming, scheduling, administration and performance benchmarks. Responsible for day to day operations within the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer and meet scheduled hours and dates of all tasks, with the goal of completing tasks ahead of schedule.
• Utilize machinery & prioritize equipment usage to obtain the quickest lead times
• Maximize efficiency by working to minimize setup and run times in all machines.
• Maintain an attitude of Continuous Improvement. Make suggestions for improvements.
• Maintain a department that is neat, organized, and clean at all times.
• Goal is a self-sustaining department to meet all requirements of your internal customer at Extreme Tool and Engineering

Specific Responsibilities:

• Operate All wire EDM and Hole-Shooting machines.
• All Wire EDM Programming
• Assist in problem solving for all Wire EDM related problems as needed.
• All Wire EDM paperwork cleanout and organization at program completion.
• Coordinate all inspection of finished blocks internally (In-Machine) and with quality department as needed.
• Assure that the quality of work is to the satisfaction of the internal customer (Tool makers) & Extreme Tool and Engineering guidelines
• Update the schedule as tasks are completed or their status changed.
  • Mark as complete on department schedule
  • Mark as ready for the next operation in the next department if applicable.
• Make suggestions for Equipment, Software, Training, etc... that would make the department more efficient.
• Responsible for Department Housekeeping, Cleanliness, and Organization as req'd.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS (bullet point or paragraph form)

• Technical degree preferred, Good mechanical aptitude req'd, Organizational Abilities, Must be a Team atmosphere and demonstrate ability to work in a team to accomplish all tasks of the department while communicating effectively. Ability to operate all EDM machines in the department.

Training needed:

1. Routing / Schedule
2. Performance Metrics training / goal setting
3. Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
