Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff. Being a Women's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Women's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Women's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance provides overall leadership to the Strength and Conditioning staff within the Valparaiso Athletics Department and will lead the athletic department’s Sports Performance Team. Adherence to NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference, University policies, and legal requirements related to student-athlete well-being is a critical aspect of the position. In addition, the Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance will oversee the comprehensive plan for strength and conditioning and student-athlete well-being for Valparaiso student-athletes. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary sports performance coach for the men’s basketball team.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop programs for the delivery of integrated and comprehensive strength and conditioning, sport science, and nutrition services for Valparaiso University student‐athletes who participate in 18 intercollegiate sports programs, including, but not limited to:
