  • Position Summary: The Director of Nursing, Women’s Services is responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s family birth center, including post-partum, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care unit, and the clinical operations of the Women’s Specialty Clinic. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the position is responsible for overall leadership, daily management, and direction for the service line providing strategic direction and leadership. Serves as a resource to manage daily operations of clinical staffing for the Family Birth Center and NICU, with the expectation of assisting leaders with planning, directing, organizing, monitoring and staffing the department subject to policies, budgets, objectives and directives mandated by regulatory agencies, and the health system administrative team. Develops and implements patient care policies that are based on evidence and best practice standards and comply with regulatory requirements. As new nursing knowledge and innovations in practice advance, leads their application into practice and ensures standardized implementation across the department by working closely and in collaboration with other department nurse leaders and educators. Minimum Qualifications: Masters in Nursing; other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered. Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to operational planning, care/service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization. Coordinates and assists with oversight of departmental services. Continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.) Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily. Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly. Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies. Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.
