Women's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's women's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire women's coaching staff.     Job Summary

    The Athletic Director is responsible for developing, managing, coordinating, and supervising a competitive intercollegiate athletics program.

    The Athletic Director also (1) provides visionary leadership, strategic planning and development for the athletics program; (2) maintains an athletics program that is committed to the mission of the college; (3) administers the overall athletic budget; (4) provides oversight and ensures compliance with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), and Jackson State Community College (JSCC) policies and regulations; and (5) recruits and manages the administrative, and coaching staff.

    This position is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of Athletics, which includes the following sports programs: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball.

    Job Duties

    • 20% - • Ensures the Jackson State Community College athletic programs support the college's and each student-athlete’s educational goals while fielding competitive teams that positively represent the college and community. - (Essential)
    • 20% - • Ensure compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and Jackson State Community College policies or guidelines related to athletics. o Certify the eligibility of each team member. o Maintain required documentation related to academic and medical evaluations necessary for eligibility audit. o Continually monitor the progress of student-athletes and the enrollment requirements necessary for eligibility. o Serve as the primary academic advisor for all student-athletes. - (Essential)

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • No less than three (3) years of experience in Athletics or experience as a full-time coach (any sport) at a college or university level.
    • Previous work experience in supervision of personnel/management.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
    • Previous work experience as an Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director at a college or university level.
    • Previous work experience following and maintaining compliance with NJCAA or NCAA regulations.
    • Obtain/maintain a commercial driver’s license.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ability to work well with persons from various social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines.

    Working Conditions:

    Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 50 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling regularly. Safety precautions control occasional exposure to risk. Frequency or severity is limited. Travel, including overnight travel, will be required to and from games and for college or program activities.

    Pay Rate: $69,920 - $87,399 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
