The Animal Adoption Specialist supports all of the functions and activities of the Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. The position is primarily responsible for assisting adoption clients with the adoption process . They assist in identifying a positive match for both the animal and the adopter based on available information about the animal and the interests of the adopter. The Adoption Specialist works as a member of the shelter team to coordinate animal intakes and outcomes, achieve adoption goals, coordinate with other rescue organizations, identify foster parents and adopters. The Adoption Specialist provides quality customer service, accurate record keeping, and financial receipts related to adoption transactions and transfer of animals in and out of the shelter. They promote WAC shelter services to aid in the prevention of animals being surrendered to the shelter and to ensure the health and well-being of animals during their stay in the animal shelter.
Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, typing/computer skills, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to handle shelter animals.
This is a full time position and applicant must be able to work various day, evening and Saturday shifts.
