Workers' Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Being a Workers' Compensation Manager establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation. Responsible for finding an insurance provider that meets organizational goals of employee coverage and cost effectiveness. Additionally, Workers' Compensation Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of unit/department. The Workers' Compensation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Workers' Compensation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Position Summary :
    Provide support to the workers’ compensation administrator and to the substance abuse prevention administrator. Additional responsibilities will be directed toward Kokosing’s medical surveillance program.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

    • Process workers’ compensation claims from intake to resolution. Direct first-aid treatment and/or facility care.
    • Analyze workers’ compensation claims and prepare claim summaries.
    • Advise management on claim status.
    • Interact regularly with team members, occupational facilities and medical providers.
    • Coordinate medical surveillance scheduling, tracking and follow up.
    • Implement standard procedures for each specific surveillance program, including, but not limited to: hepatitis, lead blood, silica, hex-chromium, audiograms, and hazwoper physicals.
    • Assure timely and thorough completion of diaries and file documentation.
    • Monitor and administer claims, generate reports, and communicate with team members, managers, insurance carriers, medical personnel and lawyers.
    • Manage the full scope of each assigned workers’ compensation claim in a cost-effective manner.
    • Coordinate all activities associated with the company substance abuse prevention program including conducting substance abuse testing, policy administration, compliance and reporting.
    • Determine medical facilities for each new project. Provide our treatment protocol to all facilities.
    • Other duties as assigned by the workers’ compensation manager.

    Education and Experience:

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Five years’ experience in workers’ compensation industry preferred as well as familiarity with medical terminology.

    KnOWLEDGE, Skills and Abilities:

    • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Maintain composure in difficult situations.
    • Must be able to walk to different locations (copy machine, meeting rooms).
    • Must be able to work at a computer for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to interact with team members.
    • Must be able to multi-task while performing the above duties.
