RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Reno, NV that is seeking a Specifications Writer.

Summary:
In this role, the Specifications Writer will be responsible for producing and managing project technical specifications for engineering and architecture projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spec writing, familiarity with various specification platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:
* Write, edit, and coordinate the use of project technical specifications using multiple specification platforms such as MasterSpec, SpecsIntact, SpecPoint, etc.
* Develop and maintain project specifications table of contents (TOC) based on input from various disciplines
* Incorporate relevant federal, state, and local requirements into project specifications
* Collaborate with project senior specification writers to ensure quality checking of project specifications
* Provide regular updates to project managers and design engineers
* Review project drawings for specification continuity
* Contribute to updating and maintaining the specifications library in collaboration with Community of Practice (CoP) leaders and discipline leaders
* Assist in writing new specifications for the firm's library as needed
* Upload specifications sections into specifications systems (e.g., ProjectWise) and maintain a complete project manual
* Train and mentor staff in spec writing proficiency and emphasize the importance of specifications in project delivery
* Coordinate with administrative staff for document preparation and submittals
* Act as a liaison for project engagement with specification software platforms
* Assist with project contract language and proposals
* Conduct research on materials and products as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
* Associate degree or equivalent additional directly related experience
* Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed
* Experience with MacOS/Windows operating systems
* Proficiency with tools such as Box, MS Word, SpecLink, AIA MasterSpecx, Deltek Specpointx, etc.
* Experience in understanding and writing mechanical/electrical/plumbing specifications in a construction environment
* Preferred experience with heavy industrial or process engineering project documentation
* Exceptional understanding of the 50-division CSI MasterFormat

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience writing and editing engineering technical specifications for public, government, and private sector projects
* Familiarity with CSI format requirements, EJCDC front-end documents, and working with multi-disciplinary teams
* Experience with vertical and horizontal construction specifications, DOT, SpecsIntact, and international specifications
* Membership in CSI with CDT certification or other relevant industry certifications

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
