Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job
- Coordinate and direct work of BMETs, balancing schedule and assignment of duties to cover preventative maintenance, work orders, field trips, call coverage, projects and emergency work orders, and adjusts to meet operational needs of the organization.
- Track outstanding work orders and ensure staff complete tasks and documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide administrative supervision for the BMETs including orientation and onboarding of new staff, performance evaluation and approval of timesheets.
- Participate with team in daily activities of maintenance and repair of equipment and call coverage and provides technical assistance for team members as needed.
- Communicate with vendors, customers and other key stakeholders to provide outstanding service to clinical operations.
- Collaborate with department leaders to monitor and ensure compliance with accreditation standards and other applicable standards and regulations.
- Work with team and department leaders to implement biomedical engineering practices and department procedures to improve the efficiency of services and operations.
- Support development of organizational processes and standards around equipment planning, purchasing and life cycle management.
- Ensure accurate and efficient maintenance of department records, documentation and reports.
- Collaborate with department leaders to establish performance goals and monitor performance improvement measures for the team.
- Responsible for making sure the department’s shop and storage areas are organized and clean, and that equipment and part inventories are based on operational needs of the organization.
- Travel by jet, small aircraft, or ferry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Details
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
- Associate’s Degree or higher in biomedical technology, an engineering discipline, information systems/technology, or related field OR documented formal training (e.g. AAMI courses, equipment trainings).
- Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) certification preferred [e.g. Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM)].
- Must have a valid Alaska driver’s license and remain insurable under the SEARHC automobile insurance policy.
Experience Required
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a biomedical technician and/or managing health care technology services.
Other Requirements
- Ability to walk extensively on uneven terrain or slippery surfaces.
- Ability to work while bending, stooping, or reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to safely work on equipment in unstable conditions.
- Ability to travel. Travel is by jet, small aircraft, or ferry.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
