Job Description

The Automotive Service Technician III performs major repairs like body work, chassis and engine repair, and disassembling and assembling components. Performs maintenance and repairs on automobiles and light trucks. Being an Automotive Service Technician III diagnoses issues, uses electronic indicator systems to identify problems, and performs routine safety checks on brakes, suspension, exhaust, cooling, and other systems. Also performs minor repairs and maintenance work such as replacing worn drive belts, hoses, and filters. In addition, Automotive Service Technician III adheres to appropriate safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being an Automotive Service Technician III works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Working as an Automotive Service Technician III typically requires 3-5 years of related experience, or may need 2 years experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
