Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital's laboratory services. Being a Clinical Lab Services Director requires a master's degree in a related area. Writes and updates procedures and manuals as needed and reviews them annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests and procedures. In addition, Clinical Lab Services Director typically reports to top management. The Clinical Lab Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
