The Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PTC) prepares machine and solutions according to protocol. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, performs required monitoring and duties during patient dialysis treatment. Being a Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PTC) administers prescribed treatment according to physician and nursing orders. Monitors patient before, during, and after treatment. In addition, Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PTC) documents all treatment details as required. Ensures patient safety and comfort during treatment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and may require the Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) or be required to be working towards the certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse. Being a Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PTC) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PTC) typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
