Job Description

The Diesel Technician keeps track of the maintenance work on the vehicles. Performs inspection, maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, etc. Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical trouble shooting, steering and cooling systems. Being a Diesel Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Ensures services provided are in compliance with safety procedures. In addition, Diesel Technician may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Diesel Technician typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.
