Job Description

The Invasive Cardiac Catheterization Technologist inserts small catheters through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function. Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and other related procedures. Being an Invasive Cardiac Catheterization Technologist documents evaluation results, progress reports, treatment plans and other data using appropriate formats and systems. Assist physicians with patient monitoring during surgery or procedures. In addition, Invasive Cardiac Catheterization Technologist some positions may require additional certifications such as: Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Cardiovascular Cardiopulmonary Technologist / Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CI registry). Requires an associate's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically requires applicable state license. Invasive Cardiac Catheterization Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.
