The Library Resources Director oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Being a Library Resources Director requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. In addition, Library Resources Director typically reports to top management. The Library Resources Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
