Job Description

The Nurse Manager LTC maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, and training clinical staff. Plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a long-term care facility. Being a Nurse Manager LTC may provide direct patient care and is responsible for evaluating patient health. Ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. In addition, Nurse Manager LTC may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nurse Manager LTC manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Working as a Nurse Manager LTC typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
