The Property Casualty Insurance Underwriting Director is responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Directs and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Being a Property Casualty Insurance Underwriting Director manages staff of property/casualty underwriters at the organization. Develops guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. In addition, Property Casualty Insurance Underwriting Director provides assistance to underwriters on more complex applications. Has a strong knowledge of the underwriting discipline. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Property Casualty Insurance Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
