Job Description

The Tool and Die Supervisor III supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Being a Tool and Die Supervisor III ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Completes high level tool development work. In addition, Tool and Die Supervisor III may assist engineers in development work. May require an associate's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Apprenticeship certificate. The Tool and Die Supervisor III supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.
