The Tool Specifications/Design Engineer II determines tool specifications and requirements by interfacing with manufacturing staff to determine the best design for the tool. Designs a wide variety of tools consistent with standard tool configuration, including cutting and forming tools. Being a Tool Specifications/Design Engineer II works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements. Performs calculations to determine exact dimensions, materials required and cost of the tools. In addition, Tool Specifications/Design Engineer II typically requires a bachelor's degree.
