The Vice President of Litigation acts as a liaison between outside attorneys and in-house staff. Oversees all litigation related to an organization and ensures maximum protection of the organization's legal rights. Being a Vice President of Litigation consults with senior management to resolve issues and decide settlements. Directs cases through litigation cycle, reviews new files for coverage and liability issues, and develops a cost effective defense strategy. In addition, Vice President of Litigation requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and may require admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Vice President of Litigation manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Working as a Vice President of Litigation typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
