Job Description

Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home in a nursing home environment, diagnoses and treats speech and language problems, and engages in scientific study of human communication. Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Being a Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and non-organic etiology. Follows doctor's prescriptions and determines the need for referral to a specialist. Additionally, Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home may require a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC) and is expected to meet certain state licensing requirements. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a manager or director. Speech and Language Pathologist - Nursing Home's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.
