Job Description for Lineman Apprentice

Lineman Apprentice constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman Apprentice installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman Apprentice work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Apprentice is generally part of a formal or informal on-the-job training program. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman Apprentice works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
